Securing Intelligent Reflecting Surface Assisted Terahertz Systems

This paper focuses on securing confidential communication in multiple intelligent reflecting surfaces (IRS) assisted terahertz (THz) systems, where a potential eavesdropper can intercept either the base station (BS)-IRS link or IRS-user link. Notably, secure transmission may be intercepted and blocked by due to blockage-prone nature THz bands. To characterize blocking effects of eavesdropper, blocking-based path loss is first investigated. With imperfect channel state information (ECSI), worst-case secrecy rate (WCSR) derived, joint optimization problem hybrid beamforming at BS IRS formulated. For BS-IRS eavesdropping, zero-forcing (ZF) principle-based closed-form phase shifts IRSs are respectively proposed. an iterative algorithm proposed tackle non-convex with given leakage threshold. Finally, robust strategy for multi-eavesdropper systems further Simulation results demonstrate that compared blockage-unaware scenarios, our scheme resist adverse waves security, significantly boost performance.
